Club teammates turn foes: Remo Stars goalkeeper, manager Ogunmodede set to square off in Nigeria-Benin AFCON clash

Ahead of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, Remo Stars’ goalkeeper, Adebiyi Marcel Serge Obassa, and his club manager, Daniel Ogunmodede, find themselves on opposing sides. Obassa, who joined Remo Stars in August 2024, has been called up to represent the Benin Republic national team for the qualifiers against Nigeria. Meanwhile, Ogunmodede, the head coach of Remo Stars, has been appointed as an assistant coach for Nigeria’s Super Eagles during these crucial matches

The duo departed together from Remo Stars’ base, maintaining their usual player-manager rapport. However, upon arrival in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, the atmosphere shifted as they prepared to face each other as adversaries in the AFCON qualifiers scheduled for Thursday.
